Unlocked Cell Phones: Cellular Accessories In And Of Themselves
If you have a mobile phone, the next thing on your list will sure to be some cellular accessories! And it’s simply incredible all the things they’ve come up with to be used with a cell phone, including items like the Plantronics Bluetooth Headset and an amazing accessory, one that’s been overlooked completely. It isn’t the first thing that would come to mind when thinking about cellular accessories, but then again, that’s just the purpose of this article: to tell you all about it!
The Plantronics Bluetooth Headset is one of many cellular accessories that can be great for the right person. If you’re a busy person or a multi-tasker, this is a great accessory for you. It allows for both of the users arms and hands completely free to do whatever needs to be done.
First, though, a little bit of technical background: many kinds of cellular technology exist, with different protocols and standards, and one of them is called GSM. It’s not as common in the United States as CDMA, but around the world most countries use GSM primarily, if not outright exclusively. All else being equal, it shouldn’t matter much in terms of your call itself, with such issues as clarity and coverag. But if you one day decide to switch carriers, it can make quite a difference in terms of your convenience, unless you don’t mind throwing away your phone (which you really should recycle instead!).
Now there is an electronic serial number for each phone that is used by your carrier to identify your account. Through this number, the wireless carrier knows that a certain phone belongs to you and is thus able to route calls to you. GSM cell phones are not directly linked to their users in this way, however, where the phone itself contains the serial number. Instead, each GSM handset contains a removable Subscriber Information Module card, or SIM card, that holds its serial number. This means that you can put any SIM card into any GSM phone, and any GSM phone will work with any SIM card. Thus, when switching carriers, you simply insert the new SIM card, from your new carrier, into your existing phone!
But unfortunately, some wireless providers like to “lock” their phones so that they can’t work with SIM cards from another company. Unlocking your phone means to reverse this programming so that it will work with any SIM card, from any carrier. And isn’t that just the ultimate must-have accessory?
After all, what do cellular accessories do, anyway? They help you use your cell phone better somehow, enhancing your experience of the device. Unlocking your phone is not a physical accessory, but it definitely enhances your experience! More than carrying cases or belt clips, unlocking your GSM cell phone is the one true must-have accessory!
